Materials List For Mike Hyrman Classes

Brushes

Selecting good brushes is almost an art in itself. I have had great results with the brushes I bought a few years ago from Joe Fettingis at his summer workshop at The Art Center. He has had opportunity to test many brushes over the years and the ones he has chosen to use he sells via his web site or phone ( www.jfettingis.com or (574) 722-9072). If you don't get your brushes from Joe, buy the best quality brushes you can afford.

Here are the primary brushes I'll be using.  At minimum, you should have those that are bolded with asterisks:

1 ½ " flat brush

#10/0 script brush

#16 flat brush

#4 flat scrubber

#10 Kolinski round

#6 round scrubber

#6 round

Paint

I really like the Maimeriblu line of paints. Not only are these paints highly concentrated, they come in larger tubes that cost about the same as other brands smaller tubes. All research I have done give these paints high marks for permanence and transparency.

These paints can be purchased at sites like www.dickblick.com or www.cheapjoes.com and other art supply sites, but you'll find the colors I'll be using at Joe Fettingis' website for (probably) a better price. If you buy another brand, make sure you get the professional quality line and not their "academic" paint.

Here are the colors I'll be using. I am listing them in order of importance and usefulness. At least get the first 5 or 6 colors:

1. Garnet Lake (#181)

6. Green/Blue (#350)

2. Bruno di Marte (#477)

7. Hookers Green (#325)

3. Permanent Red (#253)

8. Light Pink (#473)

4. Perm. Lemon Yellow (#112)

9. Perm Warm Yellow (#114)

5. Cobalt Blue (#373)

10. Bruno di Grain (#488)
